10 jobs that will be replaced by AI in the future
The increasing advancements in AI and robots are transforming the way we interact with technology. We are witnessing a revolution that offers endless possibilities, from military robots to humanoid robots. While some people find these robots useful, others find them horrifying. AI's automation capability is impeccable and is replacing many jobs previously performed by humans, which is raising concerns about job safety and the future of work.
However, a new report from Gartner suggests that AI will create two million net-new jobs in 2025, even as it eliminates millions of jobs. While it may take several years before AI completely takes over certain jobs, there are already some jobs that AI is replacing. Here are ten jobs that AI is replacing and ten jobs that won't be impacted by AI's advancements.
1. Customer Service Representatives: AI can provide automated responses to frequently asked questions, which do not require high emotional or social intelligence.
2. Receptionists: Many corporations are using robots at their reception, and even calls are managed by AI now.
3. Accountants/Bookkeepers: AI-powered bookkeeping services provide an efficient accounting system and flexibility and security, available as cloud-based services. AI can extract and “study” data from an Excel file, eliminating the need for data entry, copying and pasting, sorting, and reordering.
4. Salespeople: Advertising has shifted towards web and social media landscapes, with built-in target marketing capabilities allowing advertisers to create custom content for different types of audiences. AI can learn shopping behaviors and patterns and give product recommendations accordingly.
5. Taxi and Truck Drivers: Ride-hailing services like Uber and Lyft are now focusing on autonomous driving, where robots drive cars. Taxis and buses will be fully autonomous in a few years, and new AI features are being added to new models of cars.
6. Retail Services: Devices like Tally from Simbe Robotics perform the repetitive and time-consuming tasks of auditing out-of-stock items, underselling items, misplaced items, and pricing errors. SoftBank Robotics has also sold thousands of its Pepper robots in Japan, the largest development hub for humanoid robots.
7. Proofreaders and Translators: AI-powered tools like Grammarly and DeepL can check for readability issues, spelling errors, and grammatical mistakes and translate writing into hundreds of other languages.
8. Security and Military Personnel: AI can replace human workers and reduce the risk of human loss in military operations. Better and cheaper cameras are already reducing the role of security guards.
9. Surgical Assistants: Robotic doctors can eliminate the chances of human error in surgeries and take over the surgical assistant role entirely.
10. Courier Services: Multinational corporations like Walmart and Amazon are working on replacing delivery people with robots and drones, and AI is helping streamline various supply chain and logistics functions.
While AI is replacing certain jobs, there are still many jobs that won't be impacted by AI's advancements, such as creative jobs like writers, artists, and musicians, and jobs that require emotional intelligence, like therapists, social workers, and teachers. Other jobs that won't be impacted include roles that require physical dexterity, such as plumbers, electricians, and mechanics, and jobs that require human interaction, such as customer service, hospitality, and personal care.
